Welcome to My Website!
My name is Elira Kuka and I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at George Washington University. I am also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a Research Fellow at IZA - Institute of Labor Economics, and an Affiliate at the CESifo Research Network. Prior to joining GWU in 2019, I received a B.A. in Economics from Wellesley College (MA), an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, and l was an Assistant Professor at Southern Methodist University. My research interests lie at the intersection of Public and Labor Economics, and they are centered around understanding how government policies affect individual behavior and family wellbeing, to what extent they provide social insurance, and how effectively they alleviate poverty and inequality.
